The sector commander of Federal Road Sector Corps, Adamawa State sector command, has expressed deep shock over the death of Ibrahim Abdulaziz, the correspondent of Voice of America in Adamawa/Taraba States.
In a commiseration visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State council, the sector commander Ocheja Ameh noted that the death of the journalist was archetypal to the death of a staff.
He noted that it was ironic that Abdulaziz who is an advocate of road safety was himself a victim of road crash.
Ameh who eulogized the critical roles Abdulaziz played at ensuring safety of roads noted that he is one of the most reliable friends of the corps in the state whose contributions to road safety was unprecedented.
He prayed Allah to grant the soul of the journalist an eternal rest just as he presented a letter of condolence to the chairman of the NUJ.
In his response, Mr. Donald Dedan, the state chairman of NUJ thanked the sector commander for the show of camaraderie and concern.
He noted that Abdulaziz has left an enduring legacy worthy of emulation adding that even in death the journalist was a hero.
Dedan added that though very painful, the death of Abdulaziz has served as rallying point for all journalists in the state and has has served as an elixir for renewed unity among journalists.
