Two keke napep riders bag 2-year-jail term for assaulting FRSC officials in Yola

A Magistrate Court sitting in Yola has yesterday sentenced two keke napep riders in Yola to one year jail term each or a fine of N10,000 each for assaulting, intimidating and preventing officials of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) from carrying out their duties.

The court presided by magistrate Ibrahim Musa on Tuesday found the dou guilty of assaulting, intimidating and preventing a patrol team from Rs3.1 Adamawa sector command from carrying out their duties.

According to the First Information Report, (FIR) the two cyclists committed the crime on March 14, 2021.

The report indicated that the two riders were subsequently overpowered and arrested by operatives of the DSS who came to the patrol team’s rescue.

They were charged before the Chief Magistrate court in Yola on the 15th for criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation and obstruction of public servant on duty.
