Police nab 2 suspected kidnappers, recover ammunition in Adamawa

The Adamawa State police command has nabbed two suspected kidnappers terrorising Shagari, Bole, Lakare and Anguwan Buro-Uba suburbs of Yola south local government of Adamawa State.

A statement made available to newsmen by the image maker of the state police command, Sulaiman Nguroje said the suspects were apprehended on March 15, 2020 at about 8:30pm.

“The command apprehended two among the kidnappers that have been terrorising Shagari, Bole, Lakare and Anguwar Buro – Uba in Yola South local government area and recover a fabricated locally made pistol with two cartridges.

Nguroje noted that the two suspects both males, give their names as Tanimu Yakubu and Alfa Marcus adding that nemesis caught up with them when they stopped a tricyclists and attempted to robbed him of his belongings at gun point before operatives of Mopol 14 swooped on them.

The police image maker said investigation has since commenced as the suspects assist police with useful information.

“The command wishes to assure members of the general public particularly those along Shagari/Bole and Yolde pate axis to go about with their normal businesses as the command has taken necessary steps in ensure the safety of lives and properties.

“The command while appreciating members of the general public, equally advice them to report to police any suspected criminals around them and re-assured,” he said.

Kidnapping and armed robbery have become recurring decimals in the state having transformed into mega million ventures.

Despite the police efforts to curtail the rising spate of crime in the state, residents say they sleep with both eyes open following spike in violent crimes.
