The committee on review of performance of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 general election has today submitted its report to the National Working Committee of the party.
Chairman of the committee, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed who presented the report, described the assignment as gargantuan having neen saddled with the huge responsibilities of unravelling how the party can reclaim the presidency.
He said the report submitted has been produced in the light of the desire to rediscover qualities, enunciated by the founding fathers of the party and qualities that placed it in good standing to lead the country between 1999 to 2015.
The Governor said to reclaim the national mandate and guarantee the stability and progress of the country, PDP must consider stakeholders in its programmes.
He said the party must promote practices that will deepen democracy, promote national unity and inspire greater faith in the country.
Mohammed added that the PDP must also strongly resolve to promote internal democracy, discourage God-fatherism and ensure will of the people prevail in the choice of candidates to run for electoral positions.
Also in the report, Governor Bala led committee made up four sectors that are general observations, why the lost, the way forward and appended of past reports.
The Governor said the level of support the committee recieved in the course of its work has strengthened his conviction that, the PDP will reclaim its status as the party of majority of Nigerians
Governor Bala therefore thanked members of the committee, party elders and leaders, supporters and Nigerians in general for making constructive comments in line with the terms and reference of the committee’s mandate and hoped that the party will find their report worthy of implementation.
Receiving the report, the National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus while acknowledging the outstanding performance of the committee in carrying out the assignment appreciated the timely submission of the report.
