Osinbajo suspends trip over death of convoy’s rider in fatal road accident

Grief stricken Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo yesterday had suspended an official trip, following the death of one of the police escort riders on his convoy, Inspector Ali Gomina.

The 45-year-old ridee was involved in a fatal road accident which claimed his life while on official duty.

The spokesperson to the Vice President, Laolu Akande, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said Osinbajo aborted the trip because he was “greatly saddened” by the incidence.

Akande, who announced the death of the police escort rider, said the accident occurred on the road to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The Vice President described the late Gomina as a diligent, hardworking and serious-minded officer who will be greatly missed by the team.

He prayed that the soul of the deceased, who is survived by his wife, children and relatives, rests in peace.
