…No I’m not in your party, Fani-Kayode replies
There is confusion over the touted defection of former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the former minister insisted he remained with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Yahaya Bello has told reporters after revalidating his APC membership that Fani-Kayode has defected to the All APC.
Governor Bello said: “Our brother and friend, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has joined our party in good faith.
He is joining our party to come and add his own positive energy and make contributions to ensuring that APC is a party to beat.
“Remember that Chief Femi Fani-Kayode was a foundation member of this great party. Due to misunderstanding, he decided to port elsewhere, now he has decided to join our party, approached me, and by the mandate given to me by the party, I must not segregate or discriminate against any individual.”
”It is just nice, important and very sweet to accommodate and welcome Fani-Kayode to join the party. Remember that this party does not belong to one individual, it belongs to all Nigerians.
”You are free to join if you feel otherwise and you cannot understand what is happening before and now you understand and want to join we will welcome you with our arms wide open. So Chief Femi Fani Kayode you are welcome to our party, come and make your own contribution.”
Recall that Fani-Kayode had visited the party leaders earlier in the week with speculations that he was ready to dump the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
No I’m not in your party
But debunking the position of Bello, Femi Fani-Kayode said he has not joined the APC.
Fani-Kayode in a tweet insisted that he is still with PDP, and has not yet joined the APC.
