Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has announced relaxing the five day curfew he imposed on Sunday following breakdown of law and order occasioned by the activities of vandals and looters.
In a statewide broadcast Thursday, the governor said the relaxation will commenced from Friday adding that the 24 hr curfew has been reviewed and will start from 8:00am to 6:00pm daily.
Fintiri said the decision followed substantial progress made in reestablishment of law and order in the state.
” Consequently, Government has relaxed the current curfew regime from 8am to 6pm beginning from Friday 30th October 2020. We shall review this timings as situation warrants.
” Meanwhile checkpoints will be mounted at all the entry and exits points of the State. This, for the moment is a measure taken to stop any attempt by the thieves to escape with the looted items out of the State.
” Fellow citizens, you must bear with us as these measures are in our collective interests. They are noted to be the best way to prevent further attempts by recalcitrant hoodlums to railroad us into anarchy,” the governor said.
