Breaking: Adamawa state suspends schools’ resumption date indefinitely

Adamawa State government has suspended resumption of classes for students in primary six, as well as Junior Secondary Schools and Senior Secondary Schools Students’ that will be writing their final exams indefinitely.

This position was contained in a statement signed by the State commissioner for education and human capital, Wilbina Jackson, and made available to newsmen, Friday in Yola.

Jackson said, this development was sequel to the swift turn of events making the federal ministry of education to rescind on the decision and is insisting on stricter measures to further curb the spread of COVID-19 pandamic.

According to the commissioner, the federal ministry of education has pronounced that opening the school will expose the students to the dangers of the virus which will prove counter productive in the nation’s fight against the spread of COVID-19 pandamic

Thus, school will remain closed until the pandemic drastically subsides.

She said as a committed government, the ministry under the leadership of his Excellency the executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintri has put in place school on air program for all category of students to learn at the comfort of their homes, hence education must strive in all given conditions.

She said in view of the development, the state ministry, after due consultations, is obliged to submit to the recommendation of the federal government and Adamawa state government.

Therefore, school in Adamawa State will remain closed until further development emanates from the center.
