Adamawa police nab two suspected armed robbers, recover AK-47, others

Adamawa State police command has arrested two suspected armed robbers in Mayo Belwa local government area of the state.

According to a statement by the command’s public relations officer DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the two suspects were nabbed at their hideout in Mayo Farang village in Mayo Belwa local government.

” The Adamawa State police command, On 01/4/2021 apprehended 2 suspects in connection to robbery in Mayo Belwa local government.

” The suspects are Manzo Danladi 33, a resident of Nyibango village, Mayo Belwa local government area and Simon Bitrus 35, a resident of Nyibango village, Mayo Belwa local government area.

” They were apprehended at their hideouts in Mayo-Farang village, Mayo Belwa local government area following credible information and intense search by police detectives attached Mayo Belwa division.

” Investigations so far revealed that the suspects prior to their arrest, severally blocked the highway linking Zing and Mayo Belwa local governments of Taraba and Adamawa States and robbed innocent travellers of their belongings.

” The commissioner police Aliyu Adamu Alhaji while commending the DPO, Mayo Belwa and his men for making it difficult for these criminals to escape arrest, equally directs discreet investigations into the case for proper prosecution,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, as part of efforts at tackling criminal activities and other related offences, the commissioner of police working in concert to deepen intelligence and strengthen security in the state directed the command’s anti-robbery squad and operation farauta to go after these criminals everywhere within the state.

He equally calls on people to always report any suspicious movement around their neighborhoods to police.
