Aminu Ikamu, suspended PDP youth leader of Hong Local government of Adamawa State

In order to entrench discipline, respect and communal harmony in Adamawa State, the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended the party’s youth leader of Hong local government for unruly behavior.

In a video clip that went viral last week, the youth leader, Ikamu Aminu had tongue lashed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha in caustic and vitriolic terms.

Aminu had accused the SGF of display of brute power, high handedness, arrogance and lack of care to the people, alleging that nobody ever benefitted from him in the local government since he became the SGF noting that his appointment was an aberration.

The action of the youth leader drew the ire of the party leading to his suspension, as the party said, it will not condone such uncivilised and crassly barbaric attitude by any of its members.

Passing the verdict, Usman Waganda, Chairman PDP Hong local government said as an elite political party with deep rooted democratic culture, it will not allow such display of primitive behavior by any of its members, adding that, it accords the person and office of SGF tremendous respect.

Waganda said, “it is not in our character to besmirch others because of party differences,” adding that the punishment meted to the youth leader should serve as deterrent to others.

The party chairman who expressed concern over the derailment said, the youth leader cannot speak for the party since he is not its spokesman as such, it became expedient for the party to wield the big stick.

“He is not the spokesman of the PDP in the local government and the leadership of the PDP has dissociated itself from all the allegations made against the SGF, he (Ikamu) acted based on his conviction and we condemned in strong terms such unruly behavior.”

“We as a party (PDP) will continue to accord respect to whoever is in leadership regardless of his party affiliation, Boss Mustapha is a leader, and we will not disrespect him.

“Boss Mustapha has never had squabbles with PDP and is always quick to sympathize with people in the area whenever calamity befall on them. There is a cordial relationship between Boss Mustapha and PDP and also Adamawa state Governor His Excellency Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri,” he added.
