Adamawa APC records another mileage as late Modibbo’s structure collapses into party

Few weeks after it received high level defections including the collapse of ADC structure into its fold, Adamawa chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has on Monday recorded another mileage with the return of thousands of late Ahmed Modibbo’s loyalists into the party.

Late Adamu Modibbo who died late last year enjoyed a cult like follower-ship across party lines in the state having been a stalwart of different political parties on whose crest he took a shot at the plum office in the state.

In order to chart a new political direction, following the demise of the political icon, his supporters across party lines including ADC and PDP in their thousands dumped their respective parties and joined the APC today at an elaborate ceremony at Muna hotel.

The spokesperson of the late Adamu Modibbo political group, Mrs Bless Osagie stated that the late politician has variously attempted to govern Adamawa State on the platform of the ANPP, PDP, and Labour party amongst others.

She added that such valiant moves to rule the state on different platforms have made the politician very popular to the extent of becoming a household name in the state and beyond.

According to her, as the countdown to 2023 draws nearer, late Adamu Modibbo renewed his resolve to lead the state with gusto but regretted that the dream was truncated by his sudden death in November last year.

“However, after his death, his political associates, soul mates and foot soldiers met severally and deemed it necessary to pick his gauntlet and continue from where he stopped,” she added.

She noted that such informed the decision of all the various camps within the Modibbo political dynasty to collapse into the APC which is the most futuristic party in the state.

Commenting, the National Vice Chairman caretaker committee of the party in North east zone, Professor Mamman Tahir, called on the party to extend olive brach to the new defectors adding that they should be given equal opportunities with existing members of the party in all facets of the party affairs.

Professor Mamman warned that the party would not take it lightly with any of his officials found to have been engaged in shoddy deals during the party’s registration and revalidation exercise.

” No official of the registration and revalidation is allowed to register a person twice or in proxy as such exercise would be rendered a nullity,” he warned.

Professor Mamman declared that APC has achieved a great landmark in Adamawa State as one of the major strong political groups following massive decampment from major political parties in the state.

He described late Adamu Modibbo as one of the major financiers of his former parties since their creation in the State.

The Zonal Vice Chairman stated that by 2023 when President Muhammadu Buhari completes his tenure, the doors will be opened for all qualified APC members who are eligible to contest the the exalted position.

Also speaking, Adamawa State Care taker Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal assured the national leadership of the party that the registration and revalidation of exercise will be devoid of illegalities.

He said both the old and new members of the party would be treated on equal basis.

Bilal stated that the decampees came to APC when the party was in dire need of members, assuring that the party would not let them down.
